Abstract

Toxic behavior in a workplace leads to negative outputs. This is harmful as it spoils the culture of the organizations and transforms it into a toxic workplace. Such an environment is a veritable impediment to employee motivation and engagement. The present study aims at exploring the influence of various factors on toxic workplace environments towards employee engagement in the organization. For the purpose of the study the researchers took the help of exploratory factor analysis. The data was collected through the feedback to online questionnaire from 112 employees working in the Information Technology sector. The study found five factors responsible for affecting employee engagement namely Communication & Relation, Dynamic, Psychosocial, Emotion & Safety, and Motivation. Future studies can explore the effect of gender on the relationship between toxic work environments and employee engagement and as well as in other industries.
